Slices DEMPSTER’S® Golden Grains Rye
1 tbsp (15mL) 
Butter, softened
2 tsp (10mL) 
Dijon or grainy mustard
Slices NATURAL SELECTIONS™ Smoked Uncured Black Forest Ham
1 cup (250mL) 
Grated Gruyere cheese, divided
2 tsp (10mL) 
Fresh chopped chives

PREHEAT oven to 400 ˚F (200 ˚C).

SPREAD butter on one side of each slice of bread and mustard on unbuttered side of 2 of the 4 slices.

TOP mustard with ham and half of the cheese and remaining slice of bread (butter side up) to make sandwiches. Place on a baking sheet and sprinkle with remaining cheese.

BAKE in preheated oven until golden brown and cheese is melted, about 10 minutes. Sprinkle with chives and serve.

TIPS: FOR a decadent treat, ladle ¼ cup (50 mL) of prepared béchamel sauce over the sandwich before sprinkling with the remaining cheese. TOP sandwich with a poached or fried egg for a “Croque Madame”.
