Maple Leaf Foods Withdraws Certain Adult Snack Kits Sold in U.S. Due to Undeclared Traces of Peanut Protein in the Cookies

Mississauga, ON, July 19, 2023 — Maple Leaf Foods Inc. today voluntarily withdrew one type of adult snack kits sold in several U.S. states after the supplier of the chocolate chip button cookies contained in the kits notified Maple Leaf Foods of the presence of the undeclared peanut protein in their product.

The trace level of peanut residue in the cookies is from the soy lecithin that the supplier used as an ingredient in the cookies.

Maple Leaf Foods immediately reported the issue to the relevant regulatory authorities.  The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has issued a Public Health Alert due to the “zero tolerance” regulatory threshold for presence of undeclared allergens.

There have not been any consumer complaints or reports of illnesses.

The following products are impacted by the withdrawal:

We appreciate that no illnesses have occurred.”
