With more than 100 facilities across Manitoba and Saskatchewan, between hog barns, feed mills, washbay facility, and office, Maple Leaf Agri-Farms (MLAF) raises 1.7+ million pigs per year.
Our history
Maple Leaf Agri-Farms’ story began in 2007, when two Maple Leaf independent operating companies, Elite Swine Inc. and Landmark Feeds Inc., were combined. It was renamed Maple Leaf Agri-Farms as part of the development of a new integrated swine production model.
Our Advanced Open Sow Housing system
We transitioned 100% of our owned sow spaces to our Advanced Open Sow Housing system by the end of 2021. Open sow housing allows our sows to live in an open environment during pregnancy, where they are able to roam and be together. For internal movements, the pigs are transported in trucks with hydraulic lifts that eliminate the need for the pigs to walk up and down ramps.
