Maple Leaf Foods Seattle plant, previously known as Field Roast Grain Meat Co., was founded in 1997 by former owner, David Lee. In 2018, it was acquired by Maple Leaf Foods.

At Seattle, we specialize in crafting a variety of plant-based meat alternatives. Our product lineup includes meatless sausages, deli slices, burgers, and roasts. We are committed to providing delicious options made from grains, vegetables, and other carefully selected plant-based ingredients.

At our Seattle plant, we are proud to have a rich history as pioneers in the plant-based food industry. With more than two decades of experience, we have been at the forefront of creating innovative and delicious meat alternatives. Our extensive knowledge and expertise in the field allow us to continuously offer high-quality and satisfying plant-based products to meet the evolving needs of our customers.

We have two Maple Leaf Foods buildings in Seattle, Washington: 7th Avenue and 6th Avenue. The plant was purchased by Maple Leaf Foods in 2018 and today has 120 Team Members helping to produce delicious plant-based products under our LightLife® and Field Roast™ brands.

  • Tell us about your plant and what you produce there?
    Our Seattle plant, previously known as Field Roast Grain Meat Co., was founded in 1997 by former owner, David Lee. In 2018, it was acquired by Maple Leaf Foods.

    We specialize in crafting a variety of plant-based meat alternatives. Our product lineup includes meatless sausages, deli slices, burgers, and roasts. We are committed to providing delicious options made from grains, vegetables, and other carefully selected plant-based ingredients.

    We have a team of approximately 120 Team Members dedicated to producing our plant-based meat alternatives.

  • Does your plant do events or team building? What does Diversity and Inclusivity look like at Seattle?
    At our plant, we organize various events and team-building activities. These include offsite picnics and parties, celebrations for milestones, Lunar New Year celebrations with lion dancers, monthly community meetings for the entire team, colouring contests for Team Members’ kids, raffles, karaoke parties at lunch, and food events featuring cuisines from around the world.

  • What are the different teams that work here? What is your location and access like?
    We have Packaging, Mix Room, FSQA, Maintenance, Sanitation, Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Warehouse, and HSSE. Our location offers convenient access, as we are situated near major bus routes and just off of I-5. Additionally, we have free parking available for our Team Members.
  • What kind of perks does Seattle offer? How do you reward and value your Team Members?
    In Seattle, we offer various perks to our Team Members. These include an employee fridge where people can take home the products we make here to eat, as well as a monthly public transportation stipend.

    At our plant, we reward and value our Team Members through various means. These include initiatives such as employee of the month recognition, quarterly awards, and a culture of in-person, on-the-spot encouragement, such as treating Team Members to coffee or lunch. Team Member recognition also includes monetary awards to appreciate their outstanding contributions.
  • What is the process to receive your uniforms and PPE? Is this provided or paid for out of pocket?
    At Seattle, all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is readily available on-site, eliminating the need for Team Members to incur out-of-pocket expenses for their uniforms and PPE.
  • What does professional growth and development look like at Seattle?
    We have numerous success stories of frontline hourly Team Members who have joined into entry-level positions and advanced into leadership roles. We are dedicated to promoting professional growth from within and take pride in the development and advancement of our Team Members.
